08/16/18, Thursday
Today was a good day. We
had normal classes and we were able to learn a lot. We did an activity with
Hermana Hallal and she had us pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true, if
Joseph Smith was a prophet, and if the church is true. It was a pretty cool
experience. I was there for about
15 or 20 minutes praying and the spirit was so strong. It is so good to know
that the spirit testifies of everything, even the small things. I received a
spiritual prompting that said, “You know these things to be true, you grew up
with it and all the things you have been taught are true" and that was so
powerful. Although it was a small
thing, the Holy Ghost did testify to me.
08/17/18, Friday
Today, we had a normal
day, not much went on but we started an English fast. So for 2 days, 48 hours, we weren’t allowed to speak any
English. So that was pretty
fun. I may have slipped a few
times but I did my best.
08/18/18, Saturday
It was good, we were
really excited for Elder Bednar and we are preparing so for a Zone
meeting. We had a meeting and we
came up with good and quality questions we had for Elder Bednar.
08/19/18, Sunday
Today was really good. We
had a couple devotionals and in one we watched a video of Elder Holland´s talk
called “Feed My Sheep.” It was really powerful and it talked about how we need
to be converted first before we can convert those in the field. In the mission,
when we talk to investigators, we need to understand their circumstances. There
was a good quote by him and it reads “You have to go to where the investigator
is before the investigator can come to where you are" it was really good
because sometimes we do not have that empathy link and we need that to open their
hearts. There are 3 things missionaries do not do well and we need to improve
on:
1)
Missionaries do not study well;
2)
Missionaries do not prepare well; and
3)
We need to teach full of commitment.
These are all important
and I know I can improve on all of these things especially studying. I study a lot but I need to know how to
study effectively. As missionaries,
we need to have full commitment.
Elder Holland said to forget ourselves, go to work, and feed the Lord’s
sheep. So yeah it’s very important
in the mission to not be thinking about ourselves but to focus on the work, the
people that we are teaching and more importantly to turn outward and serve
those around us. WE ARE THE
HOPE OF ISRAEL. We are the Lord’s people and we need to build up Zion. When
Jesus asked Peter to give up his nets and become a fisherman of man forever. It
is the same for us. We as missionaries and members need to shed off our old
life and not go back to it. As soon as we put our nets down and come unto
Christ, we need to be that disciple forever until the day we can live with our Heavenly
Father again.
08/20/18, Monday
It was fairly normal. We
taught our last lesson with Myrna and it is sad. Even though they are not real
lessons, we hate saying goodbye and saying we have a transfer or something of
that sorts. It is so touching and amazing to be able to see someone the way
that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ sees his children. It is amazing to see
the love that He has for all of us and to see them at their full potential.
08/21/18, Tuesday
This morning was a shock.
We found out that the missionaries going to Argentina and Chile are all leaving
early and leaving this coming Friday. Apparently all the mission presidents in Argentina and Chile
are having this huge conference so that is why we are leaving early. We had a meeting in reception to get
our travel info. So that means we
won’t be able to see Elder Bednar. It is a bummer but it is so cool we will be walking the
streets in Argentina on Saturday!!!
Since it’s our last week
here at the MTC, we have been having a lot of workshops and other things trying
to prepare us for the mission field.
Later that day, we had a
special thing with Hermana Hallal. She told us the real story of Myrna and who
she is and then after, she called the real Myrna on the phone and we talked to
her for a bit. It was so touching
and amazing when she shared her testimony and her baptismal story with us. It is amazing to love these people you
barely know but I know that’s the way our Heavenly Father sees all of us. It is
with an Eternal perspective!
08/22/18, Wednesday
Hey guys, so it’s pday

going. That’s super cool. The Philippines! She will be able to speak with you mom
and everybody else speaking Filipino.
Well, I believe we will
have a p-day on Monday in Argentina so I will talk to you guys later. I love you guys! Adios!!!
Excited to leave the CCM. They can't wait to get out into the field.
